2.2.303. SPN 520240, FMI 31, Injector bank monitoring: ECU 1 Injector bank 0 short circuitΒΆ

Description

The EEM monitoring system has detected more than one injector error. If a injector error occurs on one bank, a cylinder specific error is reported. If more than one injector error on one bank occurs at the same time, these errors are compiled automatically and are detected as a bank error.

Possible causes are:

The 4-cyl engines:

  • The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
  • The engine injector cylinder #4 is defective.

The 6-cyl engines:

  • The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
  • The engine injector cylinder #2 is defective.

The 7-cyl engine:

  • The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
  • The engine injector cylinder #4 is defective.
  • The engine injector cylinder #7 is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

The 4-cyl engines:

  • Examine the engine injector cylinder #1 and #4 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
  • Measure the injector cylinder #1 and #4 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
  • Measure between the injector cylinder #1 and #4 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.

The 6-cyl engines:

  • Examine the injector cylinder #1 and #2 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
  • Measure the injector cylinder #1 and #2 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
  • Measure between the injector cylinder #1 and #2 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.

The 7-cyl engines:

  • Examine the injector cylinder #1, #4 and #7 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
  • Measure the injector cylinder #1, #4 and #7 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
  • Measure between the injector cylinder #1, #4 and #7 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.
