2.2.161. SPN 3509, FMI 31, 5Vdc Supply: Voltage out of range in supply 1ΒΆ

Description

The EEM monitoring system has detected an internal failure in the 5 V sensor supply.

Possible causes are:

  • The short circuit in the sensor which is a part of the sensor circuit 1.
  • If any short circuits are not detected, the ECU may be defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Examine the DEF pressure sensor for a short circuit to ground.
  • Examine the DOC upstream temperature sensor for a short circuit to ground.
  • Examine the coolant pressure sensor for a short circuit to ground.
  • Examine the throttle 2 pedal sensor and sensor wirings.
  • Examine the oil pressure/temperature sensor for a short circuit to ground.
  • Examine the Airmass sensor for a short circuit to ground.
  • If no short circuits are found, the reason might be a defective ECU.
  • Test the ECU operation with another ECU. If the system is functional and the fault is not active with the replacement ECU, then the original ECU is defective.
