2.2.149. SPN 3361, FMI 3, DEF dosing valve: Low side short circuit to HIGH SOURCEΒΆ

Description

The EEM monitoring system has detected a short circuit to the high source on the DEF dosing valve low side control circuit.

Possible causes are:

  • The DEF dosing valve wiring is defective. (Shorted to high source.)
  • The DEF dosing valve is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.

NOTE: The present fault is classified as an emission related fault. Engine power is reduced after a certain time which is defined by an authority.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Examine the DEF dosing valve wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation). (see Dosing module)
  • Test the operation with another dosing valve to see if the dosing valve is defective.
