2.2.111. SPN 3031, FMI 4, DEF tank temperature sensor: Electrical signla below normal, possible reason is short to ground.ΒΆ

Description

The measured temperature signal of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF)tank sensor is below the normal operating range.

Possible causes are:

  • The DEF tank temperature sensor wiring is defective (shorted to ground).
  • The DEF tank temperature sensor is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.

NOTE: The present fault is classified as an emission related fault. Engine power is reduced after a certain time defined by an authority.

Solution

First save the error log and then obey the solutions that follow:

  • Examine the DEF tank sensor wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).

NOTE: The DEF tank temperature and level sensors have a common reference GND.

  • Try the operation with another DEF tank sensor to see if the DEF tank sensor is defective.
