2.2.109. SPN 3031, FMI 17, DEF tank temperature monitoring: DEF tank temperature below normal.ΒΆ
Description
The diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank sensor is installed in the DEF tank. The DEF tank sensor is an independent unit which measures all the critical parameters of the DEF.
The measured DEF tank temperature is out of operating range. If the tank is not frozen,
Possible causes are:
- The fault is an internal electronic fault of DEF tank sensor.
- The DEF tank sensor is defective.
Reaction in EEM
The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated.
NOTE: The present fault is classified as an emission related fault. Engine power is reduced after a certain time which is defined by an authority.
Solution
First save the error log and then obey the solutions that follow:
- Examine the coolant circulation of the DEF tank heating valve; The hoses from the engine to the DEF tank heating valve and back to the engine.
- Examine the DEF tank heating valve wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Examine the DEF tank sensor wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Try operation with another DEF tank heating valve to see if the DEF tank heating valve is defective.
- Try the operation with another DEF tank sensor to see if the DEF tank sensor is defective.
