2.2.98. SPN 27, FMI 13, EGR valve: Mechanical faultΒΆ

Description

The EEM monitoring system has detected that the EGR Valve is mechanically defective.

Possible causes are:

  • The shaft between the EGR actuator and the valve is defective.
  • The valve is stuck.
  • The EGR actuator is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. Engine power is reduced (Degradation Level 1). The CAN message indicates an active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Check the EGR actuator assembly to detect the defective control shaft. The shaft should be movable when the ignition and the ECU are shut OFF.
  • Test the operation with another EGR actuator.

See EGR actuator ( Exhaust Gas Recirculation) for reference.
