2.2.90. SPN 190, FMI 16, Engine protection: Engine speed ABOVE NORMAL.ΒΆ

Description

The fault is activated if the engine speed exceeds the acceptable limit during operation.

Possible causes are:

  • The engine is braking while going downhill with a too low gear ratio.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.

NOTE: Running the engine at excessive speed may damage the engine.

Solution

The engine will recover to normal operation, whenever the engine speed is reduced.
