2.2.78. SPN 175, FMI 1, Oil temperature sensor: Temperature too LOWΒΆ
Description
The measured oil temperature is too low (<-40degC).
Possible causes are:
- The oil cooler is defective or clogged
- The oil filter is full
- The oil temperature sensor is defective
Reaction in EEM
The FC is stored and the fault lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.
Solution
First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:
- Check the oil cooler condition for possible leaks.
- Check that there is water flow through the oil cooler
- Check the oil filter condition.
- Check the oil temperature sensor wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Check the 5 V power supply to the sensor.
- Check the operation with another oil temperature sensor to see if the oil temperature sensor is defective.
