2.2.71. SPN 171, FMI 13, Ambient temperature sensor: Signal not plausible.ΒΆ

Description

The measured ambient temperature signal is not plausible.

Possible causes are:

  • The ambient temperature sensor installation is defective.
  • The ambient temperature sensor wiring is defective.
  • The ambient temperature sensor is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault. NOTE: The present fault is classified as an emission related fault. Engine power is reduced after a certain time which is defined by an authority.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Make sure that ambient temperature installation and location is correct.
  • Examine the ambient temperature sensor wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
  • Try operation with another ambient temperature sensor to see if the ambient temperature sensor is defective.
