2.2.39. SPN 1188, FMI 12, WG Actuator 1: Re-learn deviation (ERROR 26)ΒΆ

Description

The Wastegate actuator Re-learn failed during normal operation. The angular span found during Re-learn is smaller than minimum angle limit or bigger than maximum angle limit.

Possible causes are:

  • The wastegate actuator control shaft is defective.
  • The Wastegate valve is stuck or the valve flap has loosened.
  • The Wastegate actuator is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. Engine power is reduced (Degradation Level 1). The CAN message indicates an active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Check the wastegate actuator assembly to see if the control shaft is defective.
  • Check that the turbo wastegate valve is not loose.
  • Check the turbo wastegate valve to see if there is dirt between the valve flap and the turbo.
  • Check the operation with another wastegate actuator to see if the actuator is defective.

See Electrical Waste Gate for reference.
