2.2.28. SPN 110, FMI 17, Coolant temperature sensor: Signal not plausible.ΒΆ

Description

The measured coolant temperature is not plausible. Coolant temperature is not in a right operation range based on comparison with oil temperature. There is a risk of engine overheat.

Possible causes are:

  • The coolant temperature sensor installation is defective.
  • The coolant temperature sensor wiring is defective.
  • The coolant temperature is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Make sure that there is no leak in the coolant circuit.
  • Make sure expansion tank and pressure cap are working correctly and coolant is in a right level in the expansion tank.
  • Make sure that the coolant temperature sensor installation is correct.
  • Examine the coolant temperature wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
  • Examine the coolant temperature sensor installation to detect possible mechanical failure.
  • Try operation with another coolant temperature sensor to see if sensor is defective.
