2.2.396. SPN 657, FMI 14, Engine injector cylinder #7: Short circuitΒΆ
Description
The EEM4 monitoring system has detected a short circuit on the engine injector cylinder #7. Possible causes are:
- The solenoid valve connector is defective.
- The solenoid valve wiring is defective.
- The solenoid valve is defective.
Reaction in EEM
The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault. Engine power is heavily reduced (Degradation Level 3).
Solution
First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:
- Examine the solenoid valve wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Measure the cables from the solenoid valve 7 to the engine ground to see if there is a short circuit to ground.
- Try operation with another engine injector to see if the engine injector is defective.
