2.2.382. SPN 652, FMI 5, Engine injector cylinder #2: Current below normal: Open circuit

Description

The EEM monitoring system has detected open circuit on the engine injector cylinder #2. Possible causes are:

• The solenoid valve connector is defective.
• The solenoid valve wiring is defective.
• The solenoid valve is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates an active fault. Engine power is heavily reduced (Degradation Level 3).

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

• Examine the solenoid valve wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
• Measure between the solenoid valve 2 connectors and the ECU connector to see if there is a fault in the cables.
• Try operation with another engine injector to see if the engine injector is defective.
