2.2.271. SPN 51, FMI 13, Throttle valve 1: Calibration error.ΒΆ

Description

The throttle valve 1 calibration process failed. The throttle valve flap did not move like expected.

Possible causes are:

  • The throttle valve 1 flap is stuck or loose.
  • There is dirt between the throttle valve 1 flap and the valve body.
  • The throttle valve 1 actuator is defective.
  • The throttle valve 1 actuator wiring is defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. Engine power is reduced (Degradation Level 1). The CAN message indicates an active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then do the procedure that follows:

  • Examine the throttle valve 1 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
  • Examine the throttle valve 1 to detect possible mechanical failure.
  • Make sure that the throttle valve 1 flap is not loose.
  • Try operation with another throttle valve actuator to see if actuator is defective.
