4.2.187. SPN 520200, FMI 18, Powerstages could be disabled due to low Battery voltageΒΆ
Description
Powerstages could be disabled when battery voltage falls below normal (<8,7V).
Possible causes are:
- The battery/batteries are defect
- The generator is not working properly
- The battery wiring is defect
- The control unit is defective
Reaction in EEM
The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates active fault. Engine functions dependent on powerstages are disabled.
Solution
First save the error log and then erase it. Restart the ECU after erasing the error log. If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, check the following paths:
- Check the battery/batteries condition. (see Engine ECU power supply)
- Check the working of the generator, if the charging voltage is correct.
- Check the battery wiring from the ECU.
- Check the ECU connector for a poor connection.
- Check the ECU operation with another EEM4 controller. If the system is functional and the fault is not active with the replacement ECU, then the original ECU is defective.
