4.2.115. SPN 3509, FMI 31, 5Vdc Supply 1 voltage out of rangeΒΆ

Description

The EEM4 monitoring system has detected an internal failure in the 5 V sensor supply. A possible reason for this is a short circuit in the sensor which is a part of the sensor circuit 1. If any short circuits are not detected, the ECU may be defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then erase it. Restart the ECU after erasing the error log. If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, check the following paths:

  • Check the oil pressure sensor for a short circuit to ground
  • Check the boost pressure/temperature sensor for a short circuit to ground.
  • Check CAM speed sensor for a short circuit to ground
  • Check the fuel pressure sensor for a short circuit to ground
  • If no short circuits are found, the reason might be a defective ECU.
  • Check the ECU operation with another EEM4 controller. If the system is functional and the fault is not active with the replacement ECU, then the original ECU is defective.
