4.2.69. SPN 168, FMI 1, Battery voltage BELOW NORMAL (< 7,8 V)

Description

EEM4 monitoring system has detected too low battery voltage. Possibel causes are:

  • Battery is defective
  • Generator is defective
  • Battery wiring is defective

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates active fault.

Solution

First save the error log and then erase it. Restart the ECU after erasing the error log. If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, check the following paths:

  • Check the battery’s condition.
  • Check battery wiring and connectors for possibel loose contact or possible oxidation. (see Engine ECU power supply)
  • Check the working of the generator, if the charging voltage is correct.
