3.2.307. SPN 520240, FMI 31, ECU 1 Injector bank 0 short circuitΒΆ
Description
The EEM4 monitoring system has detected more than one cylinder error. If a cylinder error occurs on one bank, a cylinder specific error is reported. If more than one cylinder error on one bank occurs at the same time, these errors are compiled automatically and are detected as a bank error.
Possible causes are:
The 4-cyl engines:
- The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
- The engine injector cylinder #4 is defective.
The 6-cyl engines:
- The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
- The engine injector cylinder #2 is defective.
The 7-cyl engine:
- The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
- The engine injector cylinder #4 is defective.
- The engine injector cylinder #7 is defective.
The 12-cyl engine:
- The engine injector cylinder #1 is defective.
- The engine injector cylinder #6 is defective.
Reaction in EEM
The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. The CAN message indicates active fault.
Solution
First save the error log and then erase it. Restart the ECU after erasing the error log. If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, check the following paths:
The 4-cyl engines:
- Check the engine injector cylinder #1 and #4 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Measure the injector cylinder #1 and #4 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
- Measure between the injector cylinder #1 and #4 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.
The 6-cyl engines:
- Check the injector cylinder #1 and #2 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Measure the injector cylinder #1 and #2 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
- Measure between the injector cylinder #1 and #2 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.
The 7-cyl engines:
- Check the injector cylinder #1, #4 and #7 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Measure the injector cylinder #1, #4 and #7 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
- Measure between the injector cylinder #1, #4 and #7 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.
The 12-cyl engines:
- Check the injector cylinder #1 and #6 wiring, the connectors and the contact surfaces of the connector pins (possible oxidation).
- Measure the injector cylinder #1 and #6 low side to the engine ground, to see if there is a short circuit to bat.
- Measure between the injector cylinder #1 and #6 cables, to see if there is a short circuit between the cables.
