3.2.11. SPN 102, FMI 18, Boost pressure LOWΒΆ

Description

The measured boost pressure drops below the alarm level during operation.

Possible causes are:

  • The boost air piping is leaking.
  • The exhaust line is partially blocked. (DOC/SCR)
  • The turbocharger is defective.
  • The engine is mechanically defective.

Reaction in EEM

The FC is stored and the warning lamp is activated. Engine power will be reduced (Degradation Level 2). The CAN message indicates active fault.

Solution

Find the cause for the low boost pressure indication:

  • Check the boost air system tightness (the piping, the intercooler).
  • Inspect the exhaust line for possible blockage. Remove SCR dosing module from the exhaust line and check the mixer condition.
  • Check the mechanical condition of the engine.
  • Check the condition of the turbo charger. Check fresh air intake and air filter pressure alarm switch being in-active.
